While I was reading Paul.

This is a free work about new York city, I decided to create this work after reading Paul Auster. I try to feel places mixed with crowd and loneliness, documenting some empty streets in Red Hook, mixed parking/playground and structures of city which just serve the continuous flow of cars going in and out. I especially insist on the walking experience, as we can find in a lot of novels of the author. Here people seem to be illuminated among the buildings reflections during morning and evening time. I think there is a real loneliness in the crowd and that's I try to catch here during my long and repetitive walks in this main street of Nyc.

Il s'agit d'un travail librement inspiré de l'univers de Paul Auster à New York, un travail toujours en cours aujourd'hui car j'essaie de m'y rendre chaque année dans le cadre de projets d'exposition ou de création. J'aime travailler dans les lieux où se mêlent à la fois foule et solitudes diverses, appréhendant des zones comme Red Hook à Brooklyn, des parkings délaissés devenus des aires de jeux et inversement, des structures urbaines dévolues à la circulation automobile et qui demeurent parfois presque inaccessibles à pied.Il s'agit là de capter cette étonnante impression de solitude choisie parmi la foule incessante, je répète ainsi de manière presque compulsive cette sensation de marche, ce walking feeeling que l'on retrouve en filigrane dans l'oeuvre de Paul Auster.
